The new 2022 Ford Ranger has been unveiled – for Europe. Ford plans on showing the US-spec later, but at least we get to see what is coming our way. The most noticeable change with the 2022 Range is its styling. Before, the Ranger looked like a lifted Focus with its hatchback chopped off to make room for a cargo bed. Now, the 2022 Ford Ranger adopts a more masculine look with a square jaw, sculpted muscular body lines, and broader dimensions to be in uniform with its larger F-150 sibling.

The new Ranger looks bigger because the cargo bed has been extended by two inches, and its wheelbase is also two inches longer. New additions to the cargo bed include tie-down points, side steps in the rear bumper, and an integrated ruler and clamp pockets to turn the taillight into a workbench. Ford also repositioned the front wheels forward to improve its approaching angle off-road, and the rear suspension dampers have been relocated for better ride comfort. Press photos of the 2022 Ford Ranger interior show a redesigned interior with more attention to detail. One key detail is the stylish A/C vents and textured trim pieces. Moreover, the infotainment screen (offered in 10.1-inch or 12-inch) sits vertically in the center of the dash.

At this time, the Ford Ranger is for the international market. Truck buyers overseas will have three turbo diesel engine options to choose from, including a gasoline 3.0-liter V6 and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. But wait, there’s more! Additional engine options also include the 2.3-liter EcoBoost and a twin-turbo four-cylinder engine. A choice of three gearboxes consists of a six-speed manual, six-speed automatic, and the 10-speed automatic transmission with optional full-time 4×4 and 2×4. Drivetrains will vary by market. Plans to unveil the US version of the new Ford Ranger are scheduled for later on, and will probably be announced as a 2023 model. So consider this a preview of what is to be expected when it finally does arrive.
