Most new sneakers try to look untouched. Salomon’s Expedition Pack does the opposite, using intentionally weathered materials to evoke climbing equipment that has spent years in the mountains.

The collection reworks four familiar shapes: XT-Quest, X-Alp, XT-Whisper, and Snowclog OG. Aged-looking split suede, brown patina, rope-inspired laces, and dark accents draw on alpine equipment from the 1980s and 1990s. The Black, Bitter Chocolate, and Concord Grape combination gives the shoes a worn-in appearance without requiring actual years of use.

The visual treatment does not erase their technical foundations. The XT-Quest Expedition retains Salomon’s 4D Advanced Chassis for stability, an OrthoLite footbed, protective toe construction, and an All-Terrain Contagrip outsole. Its upper mixes leather and synthetic materials, including ripstop and debris-resistant mesh.

The other silhouettes bring their own established trail-derived platforms to the collection, making the pack more than four identical shoes in different shapes.

The aesthetic fits the broader shift toward trail-derived sneakers as everyday footwear, with wear and texture built into the design. The Expedition collection is priced from $125 to $200 across the four silhouettes, with availability varying by model.
