Hiking shoes rarely need to look like technical equipment to retain their grip. The HOKA Elite Terrain System Tor Summit LTR takes the brand’s cushioned mountain-inspired silhouette in a more understated direction, combining a leather upper with the trail hardware of the original Tor Summit.

The Elite Terrain System designation signals a more material-focused approach to HOKA’s outdoor footwear. In the Owl Grey version, a restrained tonal finish places the emphasis on the shape and texture of the shoe rather than contrasting performance graphics. The upper uses supple leather, with a leather sock liner inside and metal eyelets at the lacing points. A riveted HOKA bird logo replaces a conventional printed mark, adding another small detail to the pared-back design.

The practical foundation remains recognizable. A protective rubber mudguard and scratch-resistant rubber toe wrap help shield the upper, while a mesh tongue and an extra set of reflective laces provide functional touches. Underfoot, the Vibram Megagrip outsole is designed for traction across varied terrain, paired with HOKA’s familiar cushioned tooling.

The result sits between a heritage hiking shoe and an everyday leather sneaker. Unlike a conventional trail runner, its appeal comes as much from the finish and construction as from outdoor utility. The Tor Summit LTR is listed at $220 on HOKA’s U.S. consumer site, with sizing and stock subject to availability.
