A full-size SUV with 1,169 hp is already an unusual proposition. Building one to sustain that output, rather than deliver a brief burst, is the more interesting challenge behind the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV, AMG’s first entirely in-house-developed full-size SUV.

Based on the AMG.EA electric architecture also underpinning the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé, the new model comes in three versions. The GT 63 uses three axial-flux motors to produce up to 1,169 hp, including 721 hp of continuous output. Mercedes-AMG quotes a 0–62 mph time of 2.5 seconds with one-foot rollout. The GT 55 delivers 816 hp, while the GT 53 uses two synchronous motors for 544 hp.

Directly cooled cylindrical battery cells are designed to manage heat during repeated hard acceleration and charging. A 128-kWh battery supports up to 710-kW DC charging, potentially adding approximately 280 miles of WLTP range in ten minutes under ideal conditions.

AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL+ counters body pitch and roll, while active rear-wheel steering helps manage the SUV’s size. The low-set cockpit combines a 14-inch central display with a 10.2-inch instrument cluster.
German orders for the GT 53 open October 20, starting at €113,050 including VAT. The GT 55 and GT 63 follow in spring 2027; U.S. pricing and availability have not been announced.
