Porsche has officially unveiled a new top-tier performance variant of the 2022 Cayenne SUV. This new model is not the fastest in the Porsche Cayenne line-up, but it is the most powerful non-hybrid model. The new 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is exclusive to the coupe body style and fits in between the Turbo and the S E-Hybrid, but Porsches promises it is the fastest production Cayenne yet. Evidence of that promise is the Cayenne Turbo GT’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 631-horsepower and 626 lb.-ft of torque. The increased power bump is thanks to revising the engine’s crankshaft, turbochargers, induction, and intercooler and adding a titanium exhaust system.
The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT puts its power down using an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and revised all-wheel-drive system. The result of Porsche’s effort is an SUV that can hit 60 mph in 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 186 mph and a max towing capacity of 7,716 pounds. The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT rides on 22-inch alloy wheels wrapped in bespoke Pirelli rubber and sits lower with firmer air suspension.
Exterior performance components on the Cayenne Turbo GT include a carbon-fiber roof, a larger GT-specific spoiler, and a carbon fiber rear diffuser. Rear-axle steering, power steering plus, Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), and Active Suspension Management (PASM) work to make the Porsche SUV fast in the corners like its sports car siblings. At the Nürburgring, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT achieved a sizzling hot lap of 7:38.9, setting an SUV record. Porsche is now taking orders for the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. Buyers can opt for the newly added color featured in press photos called Arctic Grey. The UK will see the Cayenne Turbo GT this fall, while the US waits until early 2022 to accept delivery of their new high-performance Porsche SUV.
