The Legacy Machine No. 1 gains an EVO case, shock protection, and quick-change straps without losing its floating balance.

A floating balance wheel is a wonderful piece of theater, but it has never been the most practical companion for everyday life. The MB&F Legacy Machine No. 1 EVO tries to reconcile those two impulses, putting the original LM1 architecture inside the brand’s more resilient EVO format.

The 42mm case comes in grade 5 titanium with a rhodium-colored dial plate or 5N rose gold with green. A domed sapphire crystal frames the suspended 14mm balance, while two separate dials display independently adjustable time zones. The original vertical power-reserve indicator gives way to an inclined scale with a rotating pointer. The manual-wound movement retains a 60-hour reserve and now uses a Straumann double hairspring.

The functional changes are more than cosmetic. A FlexRing system cushions the movement against impacts, water resistance reaches 80 meters, and a redesigned case accommodates integrated rubber straps that can be exchanged at the case and clasp.

That makes the EVO approach to mechanical watchmaking less precious without obscuring the oversized balance or traditional finishing. The watch still measures 16.8mm thick, so discretion is not part of the brief.

The titanium LM1 EVO is priced at $109,000, while the rose-gold version costs $137,000 and is limited to 33 pieces.

Both have been introduced through MB&F, with availability subject to allocation.
