The original 2CV made simplicity feel like a form of freedom. The new Citroën 2CV Concept revisits that idea with an electric drivetrain, a lightweight target, and an interior that treats useful objects as part of the design.

At approximately 12.3 feet long, the concept retains short overhangs, wheels pushed toward the corners, an upright windshield, and the familiar curved roofline. Its canvas top opens the cabin to the outdoors, while the ribbed hood and rounded body surfaces make the family resemblance immediate.

Citroën targets a weight below one metric ton, or roughly 2,205 pounds, a notable ambition in a category where battery packs frequently add considerable mass.

Inside, the approach is deliberately playful. Sofa-like seating, a single-spoke steering wheel, and a suspended gear selector echo the original car without pretending it is still 1948. A removable picnic basket, detachable bench, and portable audio unit suggest a cabin built around everyday life rather than an ever-growing screen.

A related Fourgonnette concept adapts the same visual language for commercial use, broadening the idea beyond private transportation.
The 2CV remains a concept, with a production-inspired successor targeted for 2028 in Europe. Final pricing, range, and charging specifications have not been announced.
