McLaren wanted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their 1995 Le Mans victory with the F1 GTR. The GTR was a sports version of the famous McLaren F1 production car. Winning Le Mans is certainly a valid bragging right, just ask Ferrari… or Ford. So they have announced the McLaren 720S Le Mans a special edition to commemorate this historic moment. The McLaren 720S Le Mans will be a very limited production with just 50 examples being built. Of these, only 16 will be sent to Europe. Anyone fortunate enough to order a 720S Le Mans will only be allowed to choose between McLaren Orange and Sarthe Grey. It’s the same story with the interior with orange and grey being the only color options for the carbon fiber racing bucket seats.

What makes the 720S Le Mans stand out from the pack is Ueno Grey finish on the both lower bumpers and sides of the car. A “McLaren 25 Anniversary Le Mans” logo will be promptly featured on the lower sides of the body. These special edition 720S will also get exclusive five spoke LM wheels with gold colored brake calipers. The VIN number will begin with 289 as a nod to the number of laps the F1 GTR did in 1995.

The engine will be the same as a regular McLaren 720S, and I use the word “regular” loosely. The 720S is powered by a twin turbo 4.0-liter V8 making 710 horsepower with a seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission, capable of pushing this super car from 0-124 mph in 7.8 seconds! Customers can order their 720S Le Mans right now and expect deliveries to start in September 2020.
