A field jacket and a quilted bomber solve different problems, but Relwen has designed one garment to do both. The Defender 2-In-1 Jacket pairs an M65-inspired outer shell with a detachable insulated liner that can be worn as a jacket in its own right.

The outer layer borrows the military field jacket’s four flap pockets, storm placket, and adjustable waist while replacing heavy traditional fabric with a 73-percent nylon, 27-percent cotton micro-faille. A peached finish softens the hand, and a durable water-repellent treatment helps shed light moisture. A throat latch adds protection at the collar, although the design omits the original M65’s concealed hood.

Inside sits a separate onion-quilted bomber made from polyester ripstop with recycled polyester insulation. Rather than functioning only as a hidden lining, it has its own snap-front closure, wool-blend ribbed collar and cuffs, and adjustable hem. Buttons and loops attach the two layers when extra warmth is needed.
The system offers three distinct ways to wear the same purchase: the field jacket on milder days, the bomber as a lighter insulated layer, or both together in colder weather. That versatility distinguishes the Defender from a conventional insulated jacket, without abandoning Relwen’s military-inspired design language. Offered in Dark Forest, Dark Cement, and Charcoal, the Defender is priced at $568.
