Three pedals have become more provocative than another four-digit horsepower figure. The McLaren McL 6GT makes that point with a V8, rear-wheel drive, and a six-speed manual—the company’s first three-pedal road-car concept since the F1.

Revealed at Monterey Car Week, the concept previews a limited-production model due in 2028. Its starting point is Bruce McLaren’s 1969 M6GT, an unfinished attempt to translate the M6A Can-Am racer into a road car. The new interpretation keeps the original’s low nose, oval lighting, long roof, and Kamm-style tail, but avoids turning those references into costume. A continuous “Racing Loop” motif shapes the rear lamps, exhaust outlets, and interior details.

McLaren has confirmed a carbon-fiber monocoque and carbon bodywork, but not the V8’s displacement or output. The gearbox, hydraulic steering, machined aluminum controls, and physical switchgear instead frame performance around feel.

An exposed shift mechanism carries the historic Speedy Kiwi emblem, while boxed quilting and a restrained digital instrument display reinterpret the original cabin. It joins a broader return to analog supercar design without pretending modern materials never happened.

The production McL 6GT is scheduled for 2028 as a highly exclusive model outside McLaren’s regular lineup. Pricing, production volume, performance figures, and ordering details remain undisclosed.
