Artisans de Genève is one of a handful of companies that specialize in watch customization and the company proves again and again that it is in a league of its own. The latest project for the workshop is dubbed the ‘Pearl Project’ which involves the personalization of a client’s Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711. The Patek Philippe Nautilus needs little introduction. Patek’s take on the luxury sports watch was introduced in 1976. Nicknamed the Jumbo, the original reference 3700 was discontinued in 1990, and its direct descendant, the reference 5711, was launched in 2006. This horological icon is one of the most sought-after watches on the market today. It should also be noted that Patek Philippe has announced that its flagship 5711 will be discontinued soon, but that is another story.

Artisans de Genève was commissioned by its client to create a unique skeletonized version of the 5711. This customization work implied the recreation of the external components of the watch and even the movement, which has been thoroughly transformed. To reveal the movement, the dial was entirely skeletonized and beveled by hand. It is satin-brushed with a matte finish. The rose gold markers enhance the subtle color contrast. New hands were made specifically for this project to ensure an optimal match with the movement. These are carved, beveled, and satin-finished by hand. The case has been fitted with a forged carbon bezel, a signature of Artisans de Genève. Artisans de Genève mentions that it took their craftsmen three years to achieve this design, as each piece is decorated by hand with top-notch finishing.
