Ten-year age statements and barrel proof usually signal scarcity. Copper & Cask X is trying to make that combination repeatable, becoming the independent bottler’s first permanent expression rather than another one-off single-barrel drop.

The inaugural batch draws from 45 barrels of MGP bourbon aged between 10 and 12 years. Those barrels were matured across Indiana, Kentucky and Copper & Cask’s Rhode Island headquarters before blending. The recipe combines low-rye bourbon at 21 percent rye with high-rye stock at 36 percent rye, giving blender Stephen Corrigan two different spice profiles to work with while preserving the 10-year statement.
That structure separates X from many allocated mature American whiskeys whose appeal depends partly on a single annual release. Copper & Cask intends X to return in ongoing small-batch drops throughout the year. Producer tasting notes list milk chocolate and salted caramel on the nose, followed by butterscotch, almond, cherry cola, mocha and candied orange.
The first batch arrives in October at selected retailers nationwide and through the brand’s online store where shipping laws allow. Suggested retail is $69.99. For a 10-year, barrel-proof bourbon, the more notable specification may be the distribution plan: the goal is a mature bottle enthusiasts can encounter more than once.
