Mercedes-Benz unveiled a stylish new coupe to replace the outgoing two-door versions of the C-Class and E-Class, which will be discontinued after 2023. This new model is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE, and based on press photos and specifications, it takes the best of the two outgoing models to create a sleek and spacious two-door cruiser.
The exterior styling of the CLE coupe features elegantly sleek LED headlights on either side of a trapezoidal grille and two rear taillights linked by dark red trim to give the impression of a full-width taillight. The coupe’s smooth silhouette is accented with contrasting sharp flowing lines and sculpted bumpers. It makes for a handsome design that will stand out at the country club parking lot, considering that Mercedes-Benz claims the CLE’s trunk can fit three sets of golf clubs.
This increase in trunk space and legroom comes from the CLE’s stretched dimensions. It is 6.5 inches longer than the outgoing C-class coupe. Inside, the cockpit features a 12.3-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, and an 11.9-inch central touchscreen angled slightly toward the driver.
Other interior design details include a flat-bottom steering wheel and exclusive front seats with four-way lumbar support and heating as standard. Artificial intelligence tech featured in the CLE intends to enhance the driver’s experience as the car learns patterns in use, such as routes, settings during certain conditions, and even an option to announce birthday reminders.
Under the hood, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe features a choice of a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four producing 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Or the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 375 hp and 360 lb.-ft of torque. Both engines feature a nine-speed automatic transmission, aided by a mild-hybrid 48-volt system to deliver consistently smooth engine performance. A sport-tuned suspension is standard on the CLE 450, and an optional AMG package for the CLE 300. Pricing for the Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe is scheduled to be released before it goes on sale in early 2024. A cabriolet variant is coming soon afterward.
