Wilder Heart Builds Two Whiskeys From Three Mash Bills

A four-year minimum age and two bottling strengths give the new American whiskey a clear starting point.

Three mash bills give Wilder Heart more than one grain profile to work with. The new brand launches two expressions built around blending, a minimum four-year age, and distinct bottling strengths.

The core Wilder Heart Whiskey is bottled at 94 proof, while Cask Strength reaches 117.5 proof. Both combine a high-rye corn mash bill, a rye mash bill, and a wheated bourbon mash bill. Whiskey is selected from partner distilleries, then blended and bottled in Tennessee; this is not a claim that one new distillery produced every component.

The approach makes grain selection central to the American whiskey story. Corn, rye, wheat, and malted barley contribute to the blend, with no coloring or sweeteners added. Both expressions are non-chill-filtered. The higher-proof version presents the blend differently without turning the launch into an unrelated collection.

Co-founder Nate Woodruff brings the Whiskey with a View and Wilder Heart podcast background, alongside VCL North America.

Its disclosed sourcing also distinguishes the producer’s role from the distiller’s: selection and blending are the work being presented here. The minimum age describes the youngest component, not a claim that every barrel was filled on the same date.

Both expressions come in 700ml bottles, priced at $44.99 for the core whiskey and $69.99 for Cask Strength.
