The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLA does not abandon the brand’s taste for illuminated surfaces, but its more consequential changes are dimensional. Compared with its predecessor, the compact SUV stands 0.8 inches lower while riding on a wheelbase stretched by 2.4 inches, creating sportier proportions without sacrificing interior space.

For the United States, the 2028 Mercedes-Benz GLA portfolio will initially include two electric models. The rear-wheel-drive GLA 250+ Electric produces 268 hp, while the dual-motor GLA 350 4MATIC Electric delivers 349 hp. Both use an 85-kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery.

The GLA 250+ is rated for as much as 408 miles under Europe’s WLTP cycle, although an EPA estimate has not been announced. Its 800-volt electrical architecture supports DC charging at up to 320 kW, replenishing approximately 168 miles of WLTP range in 10 minutes under ideal conditions.

Cargo capacity increases to 14.5 cubic feet, joined by a 3.8-cubic-foot frunk. A panoramic glass roof is standard, while the optional SKY CONTROL version can switch seven individual sections between transparent and opaque. The available MBUX Superscreen continues Mercedes-Benz’s preference for a digitally intensive cabin, combining a 10.25-inch instrument panel with two 14-inch displays.
German orders open July 30 at €48,599.60, including VAT. The new GLA reaches U.S. dealerships during the second half of 2027, with American pricing still to be announced.
