The MacBook Pro’s biggest change is now the surface under a fingertip. Apple’s new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display brings tandem OLED and touch input to its professional laptop, pairing the redesigned screen with M5 Pro or M5 Max.

Available in 14.2- and 16.3-inch sizes, the display uses two self-emitting pixel layers. Peak HDR and SDR brightness reaches 2,000 nits, while sustained full-screen brightness reaches 1,000 nits. Adaptive refresh runs from 10Hz to 120Hz, and support for both P3 and Adobe RGB expands its usefulness for photography, print design, and video work. Optional nano-texture glass reduces reflections.

Touch sensors are integrated into the panel. A revised hinge supports direct interaction, from moving clips to playing software instruments, alongside the keyboard and trackpad. Dynamic Island also arrives on Mac for search, Live Activities, and Siri AI.

The redesign gives the professional MacBook a lighter footprint: M5 Pro configurations start at 3 pounds for the 14-inch model and 4 pounds for the 16-inch. Maximum configurations reach 128GB of unified memory and 16TB of storage, depending on configuration. Three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, SDXC, and MagSafe preserve physical connectivity.

A revised six-speaker system adds dedicated tuning for closed-lid use, making the laptop’s audio useful when connected to an external monitor.

The PROLED XDR models are available for preorder, starting at $2,899 for 14 inches and $3,399 for 16 inches.
