Mercedes-Benz debuted the next generation of its E-Class sedan for 2024. This W214-generation maintains its traditional sedan silhouette to avoid confusion with the already confusing EQ series. However, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class gains its own sharper exterior design and library of new technology, including taking selfies and playing Angry Birds in the car.
The exterior of the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class gains one inch in its wheelbase to give rear passengers a bit more leg room. In addition, the body features flush-mounted door handles borrowed from the S-Class, redesigned headlamps, front fascia, and the three-point star pattern in the air intakes. At the rear, the E-Class features a chrome trim at the top of the now full-width rear light bar. However, the light bar does not illuminate as that’s a feature Mercedes-Benz is saving for its electric models.
Inside, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class gains a new digital dashboard and column-mounted shifter to create new storage space in the center console. The optional SuperScreen package includes a third integrated screen into the dashboard for the front passenger. Otherwise, the center console features the standard 14.4-inch screen and a digital instrument cluster for the driver. New interior tech features allow occupants that aren’t driving to pass the time playing Angry Birds, stream videos, surf social media, or take selfies using one of the E-Class’s in-car cameras.
Buyers in the United States can choose between the E-Class E 350 4Matic and the E 450 4Matic. The base model features a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 255 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft of torque. The E 450 4Matic uses a 3.0-liter straight-six offering 375 hp and 369 lb.-ft of torque. Both variants use a nine-speed automatic transmission, a 48-volt hybrid system, and all-wheel drive as standard.
Pricing for the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be announced before they arrive at dealerships later in the year. No confirmation on whether Mercedes-AMG will get to add its signature flare to the new E-Class, but only time will tell.
