Sony And Marvel Release ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Second Trailer

What we now know about the upcoming film.

Today, we were treated to Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer 2, the final peek at the motion picture prior to its opening in theaters on December 17th. In anticipation of today’s trailer launch, the rumor mill was on fire with hashtags like #DocOck, #Electro, #GreenGoblin, and #Multiverse, along with Spider-Man emojis. The last time we got a glimpse at the first teaser trailer of  Spider-Man: No Way Home it was confirmed that Doctor Octopus, played by Alfred Molina would be in the film along with Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin. So, what new information has been revealed with the final trailer? Lots.

But, let’s first go back to what we know leading up to the latest trailer revealed today. As far as the plot of Spider-Man: No Way Home goes, we already know that the film will pick up where Peter Parker’s storyline ended in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Fans will no doubt recall that at the end of the franchise’s second installment, Jake Gyllenhaal’s villainous Mysterio unmasks Peter Parker as Spider-Man and wrongfully accuses him of his murder. The situation weaves a tangled web for Peter, played by Tom Holland, who is struggling with losing his secret identity while trying to prove his innocence to the world, which dubs him “public enemy #1.” Out of desperation, Peter seeks out the help of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. All too willing to help him, Doctor Strange performs a spell that erases everyone’s mind of Peter’s secret identity. The spell backfires and causes Peter and Doctor Strange to plunge into the multiverse.

Today’s second trailer reveal gives us a much clearer look at the actual plot than previous promos. Peter’s interference with Doctor Strange’s spell will cause Spider-Man villains to be pulled in from other dimensions that Peter will have to confront. That will lead Peter, MJ, and Ned to “Scooby-Doo” their way to finding all of them. Not only will all of Earth be in danger, but Peter will have to struggle with the possibility he’ll be responsible for sending all of them to their deaths. The new trailer confirms that Green Goblin, Electro, Lizard, and Sandman will all be joining in along with the previously seen Doc Ock. Spider-Man: No Way Home is directed by Jon Watts, who also directed the first two Spider-Man films of the Holland era, beginning with 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. The film is part of the Phase Four rollout of the evolving Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cast also includes Zendaya as Mary Jane, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, and Jamie Foxx as Electro.
