Marvel Comics Library Spider-Man is the inaugural volume commemorating the exclusive long-term collaboration between TASCHEN and Marvel Entertainment announced on December 7th, 2021. Spider-Man. Vol. 1. 1962-1964 honors the original Spider-Man creators, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, with a unique extra-large format. Each volume features an essay by a comic book historian. Marvel Comics Library Spider-Man is a limited edition featuring 21 classic Spidey stories, hundreds of rare photographs, and original artboards. There is also an in-depth historical essay written by Marvel editor Ralph Macchio and an introduction by David Mandel.

TASCHEN says Marvel Comics Library Spider-Man and the other books use three different paper stocks. One of the papers is an uncoated and wood-free paper developed to simulate the feel of the original comics. Each title in the series is a reproduction in close collaboration with Marvel and the Certified Guaranty Company. The collection includes top-quality comics sourced with CGC, a multi-step process to certify comic books and related collectibles.

What’s more, TASCHEN uses super-high-resolution photographs and modern retouching techniques to improve and balance ink densities, color matching, registration, and correct lines that were too thick or thin. The first printing of 5,000 numbered copies of Marvel Comics Library Spider-Man, Famous First Edition is available on the company’s website. There is also a Collector’s Edition of 1,000 numbered copies.
