Anyone planning to watch the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed, starting on July 8th, will get to witness the public debut of Lotus’s latest sports car – the 2022 Lotus Emira. This new premium sports car represents Lotus stepping into the new decade with a new chassis, new engine, and the same handling we expect from the British automaker. The Emira was developed on a lightweight bonded aluminum chassis with a mid-engine layout.

This new Lotus will be offered with two engine variants. The top of the range engine option will be familiar to Lotus fans and will be in the “First Edition” Lotus Emira, the 3.5-liter supercharged Toyota V6. The second option is an engine that is new to Lotus, developed with technical partner AMG. This is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. Both engine options will be available with a manual, automatic, and dual-clutch transmission. The performance will range between 360 to 400 horsepower, reach zero to 60 mph in less than 4.5-seconds. The 2022 Lotus Emira will deliver a top speed of 180 mph. In its lightest spec, the Lotus Emira will tip the scales at 3,097-lbs.

Inspiration for Emira’s styling came from the Lotus Evija. Sculpted lines are meant to optimize aerodynamics. The standard wheel size is 20-inch wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport tires. Emira cars optioned with Lotus Drivers Pack will feature Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. However, both sets of tires were developed especially for the Emira by Lotus. According to Lotus, the first deliveries of the Emira will start in the spring of 2022.
