The New Balance 992 has never relied on understatement, but the new Sea Stone edition refines its visual language through color rather than reinvention. Designed under Teddy Santis’s Spring/Summer 2026 Made in USA program, the release builds a layered palette of blues—suede overlays set against deeper mesh—creating a tonal foundation that feels cohesive rather than loud. It’s a study in saturation and restraint, where variation within a single hue does most of the work.

Contrast arrives through carefully placed interruptions. The ABZORB midsole introduces a pale yellow foam, offset by green cushioning accents that subtly break the monochrome field.

At the heel, a panel of purple suede provides a final point of tension, an unexpected detail that keeps the composition from feeling overly resolved. The overall effect recalls the muted complexity of sea-worn materials rather than anything overtly seasonal.

Underneath the colorwork, the 992 remains structurally unchanged. Pigskin suede, breathable mesh, and the model’s familiar proportions carry forward, anchored by a midsole that continues to balance cushioning with presence. The silhouette still occupies that narrow space between performance heritage and contemporary relevance, avoiding the need for exaggerated updates.

Set for release on April 30, 2026, the Sea Stone arrives at around $200. It reinforces the 992’s position within the Made in USA line as a platform for material and color exploration—one that evolves through nuance rather than disruption.
