Scottish watchmaker, anOrdain has collaborated with Worn & Wound to unveil the Model 1 Precious Metal Series. A trio of watches based on anOrdain’s Model 1 design, each features a different precious metal coating on the dial and complementary accents. Known for their in-house enamel dials, in 2020 when the world shut down, anOrdain could not practice their signature craft, so they designed a series of watches that celebrated their unique design language, sans-enamel. Working with a high-end dial maker in Germany, anOrdain created three different dials with precious metal coatings, finished to the highest degree with sandblasting and brushing for contrasting textures. Available in Black Rhodium, White Gold, and Rose Gold, they epitomize anOrdain’s vision of a classic and minimal, contemporary watch.
The Black Rhodium timepiece features white accents and text, as well as lacquered white hour and minute hands for high contrast. The most classic of the three, the subtle texturing of the dial adds an atypical depth. For a more industrial look, the White Gold model is paired with black accents and text, with heat-blued hands. The sandblasted center shimmers in a way that is no less than hypnotic. The Red Gold version combines black accents and text with heat-purple hands for something truly unique.
Measuring 38mm wide by 46mm from lug-to-lug, and 11mm thick, the Model 1 case is perfect for daily wear. The design features uniquely faceted lugs, a gently bowed right side that protects the crown, and a large domed sapphire crystal with many layers of AR for perfect optical clarity from edge-to-edge. Powering the Model 1 Precious Metal series are Swiss-made ETA 2824-2 automatic movements. Serviced, regulated, and modified by anOrdain’s team of four watchmakers, the date function has been removed, as has the date-setting position on the crown. Available to ship in late August, the series is made in a numbered batch of 50 each, come mounted to German-made straps, and are protected by beautifully designed suede travel cases.
