Wales Bonner is an apparel brand established in 2014 that symbolizes “European luxury with an Afro-Atlantic spirit.” The company specializes in an innovative take on luxury with thoughtful design that is inspired by music, history, and literature. Now they are partnering with adidas on a third collaboration dubbed the adidas Originals x Wales Bonner A/W 2021 Collaborative Collection. Previously, the collaborations were a part of spring 2021 (Essence) and fall 2020 (Lovers Rock). The latest is dubbed “Black Sunlight” for a collection of clothing, shoes, and accessories. Black Sunlight shines a light on a world of Caribbean Thought and Black British intellectualism, reflecting on the scholars, poets, and artists from the Caribbean, India, and West Africa.
Items in the new collection include t-shirts, pants, trackpants, a tracksuit, an anorak, and a sunhat. Inspired by scholarly iconography, select pieces are then elevated with collegiate graphics, representing academic and spiritual growth. Some of the color combinations in the adidas Originals x Wales Bonner A/W 2021 Collaborative Collection include Dark Marine paired with yellow and white, Hazy Yellow with different shades of brown, and Collegiate Burgundy with yellow and brown. Choosing favorite color combinations in this collection will be hard because there is so much to love about the collab. The WB Japan sneaker with an embossed gold foil Wales Bonner logo is especially fetching. The footwear from the collection will not be available until 2022, but the rest of the apparel will be available starting on November 16th.
