A. Lange & Söhne, the prestigious German watchmaker, has launched its first self-winding chronograph, the Odysseus Chronograph. This new timepiece is the latest addition to the Odysseus watch family and features a newly developed L155.1 DATOMATIC caliber movement. The watch is available in a limited edition of just 100 watches.
The Odysseus Chronograph is a sporty-elegant timepiece that embodies the brand’s aspiration to advance the development of precision watchmaking. Its horological complexity is a testament to the brand’s commitment to breaking new ground and exploring uncharted territory. The watch’s contemporary appearance is characterized by openness, lightness, and prominent features. The narrow bezel allows for a comparatively large dial, ensuring superior legibility. The lancet-shaped hands and the brand-typical displays for the outsize date and day of the week further enhance its functionality.
The chronograph hands are positioned in the center, and the totalizers, which are typically arranged at 3 and 9 o’clock, are dispensed with. The outsize date and day of the week are maintained, retaining the characteristic dial design of the Odysseus watch family. The Odysseus Chronograph also features a dynamic reset-to-zero function of the chronograph hands. When the reset-to-zero button is actuated after a time measurement, the minute counter jumps back to its starting position, and the red chrono seconds hand covers the entire distance traveled beforehand within a fraction of a second. If the minute counter has passed the 30-minute mark, both hands advance to zero clockwise.
The watch is equipped with a dial whose special architecture creates an illusion of depth, and its black main dial boasts a textured surface. The palladium-colored flange ring frames the dial and accentuates the sporty-elegant appearance of the watch. The Odysseus Chronograph is housed in a three-part stainless steel case with a diameter of 42.5mm and a solid stainless steel bracelet. The combination of brushed surfaces and chamfered edges create an impressive light pattern, further enhancing its design.
