Today at Watches and Wonders 2024, we saw the release of the Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT, the latest addition to the prestigious Black Bay line. Inspired by the glamour of mid-century air travel, the Black Bay 58 GMT exudes elegance and sophistication with its warm burgundy, black, and gilt accents adorning the bidirectional bezel.
The Black Bay 58 GMT boasts a 39mm diameter case, a 47.8mm lug-to-lug span, and a 12.8mm thickness. That makes it 0.8mm longer from lug to lug and 0.9mm thicker than a regular Black Bay 58. But it’s when you compare it to the 14.6mm thickness of both the Black Bay GMT and Pro, the size of the Black Bay 58 GMT is impressive. It seems like the designers at Tudor have worked hard to develop a GMT watch with the perfect dimensions for smaller wrists.
The matte black dial is combined with gold printing and similarly styled snowflake hands. The bidirectional 24-hour bezel has a familiar “Coke” colorway in black and burgundy red but with gold numerals. This is the same vintage-inspired recipe used successfully on so many of Tudor’s Black Bay watches, and it seems to work well again on this new Black Bay 58 GMT.
At its heart lies the Manufacture Caliber MT5450-U, a marvel of engineering that powers the Black Bay 58 GMT with unparalleled precision and reliability. Certified as a Master Chronometer, this exceptional movement ensures accurate timekeeping, while its impressive 65-hour power reserve guarantees uninterrupted performance.
But the Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT is more than just a feat of technical ingenuity; it’s a statement of style and sophistication. With its choice of cut-to-size rubber or stainless steel bracelet, the watch is priced at $4,400 and $4,600 respectively. Adorned with Tudor’s innovative T-Fit clasp, this timepiece offers both comfort and convenience in equal measure.
