Kurono Tokyo is revisiting its triple-calendar format with the Calendrier SBR, a small-batch 38mm watch built around a high-gloss saxe-blue dial. Designer Hajime Asaoka originally considered the color for an earlier Calendrier, but this version gives it a different character through roughly 70-percent gloss and metallic applied Arabic numerals.
The Calendrier SBR displays month and day through twin apertures beneath 12 o’clock, with a pointer date around the perimeter and central hours, minutes, and seconds. Its applied indices are electroformed to achieve finer shapes than conventional stamping would readily allow. The polished 316L stainless-steel case measures 38mm across and 10mm thick without the box sapphire crystal, while water resistance is rated to 5 ATM.
Inside is the Miyota 9122 automatic triple-calendar movement, running at 28,800 vibrations per hour with 26 jewels and approximately 40 hours of power reserve. It is a pragmatic movement choice that keeps the focus on Asaoka’s dial work rather than pushing the watch into a substantially higher price tier—a different proposition from smaller independent Japanese releases such as the Kiwame Tokyo Yane.
Kurono Tokyo prices the Calendrier SBR at $2,380 before VAT and duties. Worldwide online ordering opens September 24, with deliveries expected from late October. Production is limited and will not be repeated.
