When the Massachusetts running apparel and accessories brand Tracksmith decided to create its first pair of shades, these sunglasses absolutely had to do everything that a runner needs sunglasses to do. They had to be extremely lightweight, but they also had to stay firmly in place through endless jostling and fierce winds. Not to mention the fact that they need to withstand all kinds of weather without fogging up or producing glare.

To make matters even more complicated, Tracksmith didn’t want their sunglasses to “scream racing.” In other words, they wanted to craft a highly fashionable product that can be worn for any occasion.

Joining forces with the Italian eyewear specialists at Article One, they designed a pair of lightweight TR90 polymer plastic frames with a classic silhouette. Then they outfitted the frame with Divel CR-39 Polarized lenses that block 100 percent of incoming UVA/UVB rays. Behold, The Charles Running Sunglasses, perfect for a daily run along the Charles River.
