To commemorate the 50th anniversary of both Nissan and Italdesign, the two companies have joined forces to create the ultimate GT-R, the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign.
Based on the supremely capable Nissan GT-R NISMO, the car combines “Japanese brute force and Italian craftsmanship,” with Italdesign responsible for the development and engineering while the Nissan design team in Europe and America taking care of the exterior and interior design.
The resulting vehicle is the ultimate version of the Nissan GT-R, with a distinctive new bodywork clad in gold detailing, and new design elements like thinner headlights, pronounced power bulge, rear window, and protruding tail lights. The interior is also bespoke, with a sleeker design accented with gold details and generous use of black leather and Alcantara. Performance updates include new turbochargers, bigger intercoolers, a reinforced dual-clutch six-speed gearbox, stronger differentials and drive shafts, as well as Bilstein DampTronic adjustable dampers.
Sadly, the Nissan GT-R50 is only a prototype at the moment, but we can only hope that this celebratory creation will see the light of day, even if it’s in small quantities.
