Nike has always been on the cutting edge of performance-driven athletic apparel. The new Nike Run Division Aerogami Jacket is one of the brand’s latest advancements, transforming in real-time to provide superior breathability when runners sweat.
What sounds like some kind of AI technology from the future is a modern-day ventilation system that adapts to an athlete’s needs. Designed by Nike’s team of scientists, innovators, and runners, the Aerogami technology senses when a runner sweats and when the sweat dries. The jacket solves a long-time issue most runners understand; the desire to remove a layer mid-run because they’re overheating or throw on another layer when the temperature drops.
The Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL) and Nike Explore Team (NXT) created Aerogami with small winged vents that open as sweat accumulates on the skin. The vents close when sweat dries, providing warmth when runners need it at the beginning of a run or during the cool down.
The all-new Nike Run Division Aerogami Jacket features the Aerogami ventilation system on the back and chest, where runners sweat most. Nike knows that men and women sweat differently, so they adjusted the vent placement to best suit each gender. The women’s Nike Run Division Aerogami Jacket is set for a July 2023 release, while men can expect their release in the fall.
