LEGO is turning one of Britain’s most recognizable sports cars into a 1,673-piece Icons set with the new Jaguar E-Type, a display-focused model based on the historic 77 RW roadster. Finished in classic green with wire-style rims, the set concentrates on the proportions and mechanical details that made the original E-Type a landmark of postwar automotive design.

The completed model measures more than 3.5 inches high, 14.5 inches long, and 5.5 inches wide, giving LEGO enough room to capture the Jaguar’s long hood, compact cockpit, and tapering rear bodywork. The scale also allows for functional details rather than a purely static silhouette.

The hood opens to reveal a brick-built inline-six engine, while the doors and trunk are also operable. Working steering connects the front wheels to the cockpit, and the textile roof folds back to expose a detailed dashboard and interior. A five-piece tool kit fits inside the trunk, which uses a push-button opening mechanism.

The choice of 77 RW gives the set a more specific reference point than a generic E-Type recreation. The registration is associated with an early E-Type roadster, allowing the model to lean into the first-generation car’s clean proportions and open-top configuration. LEGO’s use of a textile roof is particularly effective here, avoiding the bulky appearance a fully brick-built folding top could have introduced.

As part of the LEGO Icons range, the Jaguar E-Type is designed primarily for adult builders and display. It also joins a growing catalog of brick-built enthusiast cars that treats recognizable automotive design as a problem of proportion and construction rather than simply adding licensed badges to a generic chassis.

The LEGO Icons Jaguar E-Type 11381 is priced at $139.99 and is available for preorder ahead of an August 1, 2026 shipping date. For E-Type enthusiasts without the garage space—or maintenance budget—for the real thing, 1,673 pieces make for a considerably more manageable British sports car.
