John Mayer’s garage has found its way onto a guitar rack. The PRS Silver Sky Defender Color Collection translates eight shades from the British 4×4 into two versions of Mayer’s signature electric, splitting the project between a U.S.-built flagship and a more accessible SE.

The Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition uses an alder body, maple neck, 7.25-inch-radius rosewood fretboard, and three 635JM single-coil pickups. PRS finishes it in Arles Blue, Willow Green, Portofino Red, or Sandglow Yellow, pairing each color with a matching headstock, white controls, an engraved neck plate, and a Defender-badged ATA case. Production is capped at 500 per color—2,000 worldwide—and the U.S. price is $3,200.

The SE Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition shifts to contemporary Petra Copper, Sedona Red, Carpathian Grey, and Woolstone Green. Its poplar body, 8.5-inch-radius rosewood fretboard, 635JM “S” pickups, black pickguard, and custom gig bag preserve the collaboration’s identity while bringing the price to $999. Unlike the numbered U.S. model, the Indonesian-built SE is limited by an order window running through June 30, 2027 rather than a fixed production total.
The collection also expands on an earlier John Mayer Silver Sky limited edition from 2021, but the logic here is broader: heritage colors for the U.S. instrument, modern Defender paint for the SE, and hardware details that make the connection visible beyond the finish. Both versions are available to preorder through PRS dealers.
