A miniature off-roader is more interesting when its underpinnings are as carefully considered as its bodywork. Axial‘s SCX30 Jeep CJ-7 packs a licensed classic Jeep into a 1/30-scale radio-controlled crawler built for small obstacles.

The hard ABS shell reproduces the CJ-7’s squared-off shape with a detailed cabin, exterior trim, and functioning front and rear lights. Depending on the version, licensed wheels and tires come from Raceline and Mickey Thompson or American Racing and Goodyear. The Classic version adds a removable hardtop and chrome accents.

Underneath, the four-wheel-drive chassis features angled skid plates, ramped axle housings, high-clearance suspension links, and forward weight bias. Those components are intended to help the tiny vehicle climb over rocks and ledges rather than simply race across a flat surface.

Clipless body mounting provides chassis access, and optional SCX24 gears allow ratio changes. Ball bearings and low-mounted electronics round out the chassis. The brushed-motor platform uses a 2S LiPo battery and Spektrum SLT2 transmitter with 50% or 75% throttle limits.

Everything needed to drive is included: the truck, radio, battery, USB charger, and transmitter batteries. That ready-to-run package gives collectors a functional counterpart to the full-size CJ-7’s rugged design. The SCX30 Jeep CJ-7 will come with a price of $99.99. Preorder availability may vary by retailer and color.
