A folding iPhone was always likely to arrive late and expensive. The iPhone Duo is Apple’s first foldable, pairing a 5.4-inch outer screen with a 7.6-inch inner display and a $1,999 starting price.

Both Super Retina XDR panels use the same aspect ratio, letting content scale without changing shape as the device opens. The inner screen adds a nano-texture surface to reduce glare and soften the visible crease, while ProMotion, Always-On functionality, and 3,000-nit peak outdoor brightness apply to both displays. Split View brings two-app multitasking to iPhone for the first time, and USB-C Apple Pencil support follows later this year.

Grade 5 titanium forms the mirror-polished enclosure, while a hinge assembled from more than 100 components supports the center of the display. Ceramic Shield protects the back and outer screen, and the complete device carries an IP68 rating.

Inside, A20 Pro connects directly to a custom vapor chamber, and a battery on each half works as one. Apple rates mixed-display use at up to 24 hours per charge.

Two 48MP rear cameras cover main, 2x, ultra-wide, and macro shooting, with the outer screen doubling as a subject preview. That puts Duo against established book-style foldables, but its strongest distinction is the integration of iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence.
Star white and night sky models arrive October 23, with preorders opening October 16 in capacities from 256GB to 2TB.
