The Lonely Island’s 2009 hit I’m On A Boat was a parody of music videos plagued the music industry with thinly veiled excuses to party on a boat. Remember Big Pimpin’? It seemed like the main focus was to hang out on a boat with dozens of beautiful Girls Gone Wild-esque women, while the resulting video was just a nice bonus to fund these lavish festivities. The song famously pointed out the cliches and the ridiculousness of the music industry in general with its literal lyrics and tongue-in-cheek references, much like the upcoming film Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping that looks like a feature length music video by The Lonely Island.
In their latest outing, The Lonely Island visited the Tonight Show Music Room for a rendition of I’m On A Boat with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots with classroom instruments. While it’s not as epic as the music video, it’s still an enjoyable rendition to watch. You can also watch the original music video as well as the latest trailer for Popstar below.
