The urban landscape of everyday life makes it easy to forget how dark the nighttime becomes after the sun sets. Without the benefit of a full moon or the twilight that clouds can easily veil, the pitch-black makes it easy to see why the fear of the dark is so ingrained into human nature. Fortunately, you can carry a light source with you into the unknown with the Barebones Beacon Carabiner Light. The lantern emulates the look of the lifeline taken into the cavernous depths of a coal mine. A rechargeable 8-watt lithium-ion battery cell provides the carabiner lantern with up to more than 200 hours of light that can illuminate any environment, giving new meaning to the phrase fiat lux.
The steel carabiner makes it simple to hand the lantern. The lantern’s 3-wattLED lightbulb is dimmable so it can offer anywhere from 30 to 220 lumens of 3000k light between its low and high settings. At 30 lumens, the battery life lasts for more than 200 hours, while the medium setting lasts for 5 to 6, and the highest runs for 3. A 30-inch charging cord lays surreptitiously beneath the lid which comes in either red or black. This enables the Barebones Beacon Carabiner Light to fully recharge in just 4 to 5 hours from electrical input between 5 volts, with a maximum input of 1 amp. Recharging the lantern between camping trips or other excursions is essential to maintaining the integrity of its battery life. Barebones recommend doing so once every 3 to 4 months.
