The second-fastest bike in Specialized’s catalog may be the more interesting one to buy. The Tarmac SL9 S-Level replaces the former Pro tier, carrying the flagship’s aerodynamic shapes and top-level drivetrains into a less rarefied build.

Its FACT 10r carbon frame weighs a claimed 822 grams and uses the same tube profiles as the FACT 12r S-Works chassis. Specialized pairs it with a FACT 12r fork, integrated Roval Rapide cockpit, Roval Rapide CL III carbon wheels, and a Power Pro saddle with Mirror padding. Complete bikes weigh about 15.7 pounds, depending on size and configuration.

Buyers can choose Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 or SRAM Red AXS, and both builds include power meters: a dual-sided 4iiii Precision Pro unit for Shimano and a Quarq meter for SRAM. The compromise is concentrated in the carbon layup and wheel tier rather than the controls or riding position, so the experience should remain close to the halo model. That makes S-Level a rational bridge between superbike engineering and the broader world of high-performance outdoor equipment—although rational remains relative at five figures.
Specialized lists the Shimano build at $9,999.99 and the SRAM version at $10,499.99. Both are available now through the brand’s U.S. site and participating dealers in sizes 44 through 61.
