ASUS continues to explore the outer edges of laptop design with the latest ROG Zephyrus Duo, a 16-inch system that turns its dual-display concept into a more cohesive workspace. The primary 3K HDR OLED panel delivers a 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 1,100 nits of peak brightness, while a secondary touchscreen rises on a hinge to improve visibility and reduce glare. Together, the two displays form an extended 21-inch canvas that shifts the device closer to a modular workstation than a traditional gaming laptop.

The secondary screen is more than a novelty. It supports stylus input and can be configured across multiple modes—Dual Screen, Laptop, Sharing, Book, and Tent—depending on the task. ASUS complements this flexibility with a detachable magnetic Bluetooth keyboard, allowing the user to position it independently for a more desktop-like setup or dock it into the chassis when mobility is required. The approach prioritizes adaptability without abandoning the constraints of a portable form factor.

Internally, the Zephyrus Duo is built to match its ambitious layout. It runs on an Intel Core Ultra 9 386H processor and can be configured with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 or RTX 5090 graphics, supported by 32 GB of memory and 1 TB of PCIe 5.0 storage. A cooling system that combines liquid metal and a vapor chamber helps manage the thermal demands of high-performance workloads, whether gaming or content creation.

The CNC-milled aluminum chassis, finished in Stellar Grey, incorporates a Slash lighting array on the lid that functions as both a visual signature and a status indicator. Pre-orders opened on April 28 with pricing starting around $4,500, positioning the Duo firmly in premium territory.

While dual-screen laptops remain a specialized category, ASUS continues to refine the concept into something increasingly practical, suggesting that expanded screen real estate may yet find a broader audience.
