Before Mercedes-AMG unveils the first electric G-wagon, the ICE version gets one last limited-edition ride. The 2023 Mercedes-AMG G3 4×4² is a mash-up of new and nostalgic, incorporating what fans love most about the G63 – square fenders, V8 power, and acres of ground clearance.

Mercedes-AMG released official photos and a walkthrough video of the new G63 4×4². Apart from the striking metallic green paint, this new G63 4×4² is based on the current second-generation model that debuted in 2019. The fenders are wider to accommodate the massive all-terrain tires wrapped around 22-inch wheels. Like the full-size spare wheel cover, carbon fiber is found throughout the luxury off-roader. However, the vehicle’s most exciting feature is its portal axles, which allow for greater ground clearance. The 2023 Mercedes-AMG G63 4×4² offers 13.8-inches of ground clearance and can cross through 35.8-inches of water.

Under the hood beats the standard AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 577-hp and 627 lb.-ft of torque. However, acceleration and speed on this new G-wagon are affected due to its off-road focused modifications. Inside, the special green paint, along with carbon fiber accents, is featured throughout. Unique features include ambient lighting, a digital interior mirror, and leather-wrapped sports seats and steering wheel. Mercedes-AMG calls this limited-edition G63 4×4² the “last of its kind,” referring to its gas-burning V8 engine. Pricing information and detailed performance specifications will be announced later in the year.
