Vipp makes home goods with intention. The company first gained fame in 1939 for its unique pedal waste bin design, the Vipp15. The brand new Vipp Rubbish waste bin is a remake of the 1939 classic with a significant twist. It’s a waste bin made from waste.

The Vipp team didn’t see a need to change the bin’s original design. However, they sought to make it more sustainable by drastically reducing the raw materials used in its production. They succeeded by creating the Vipp Rubbish, a waste bin made from the company’s own industrial plastic waste and remnants from wood products across the country.

The most significant attraction to the Vipp Rubbish is its sustainability. Each Rubbish waste bin initially used 3.7 kg of steel. That steel was replaced with sawdust and plastic that would have otherwise been burned, causing even more greenhouse gases. Instead, that CO2 is stored in the product, which is durable enough to pass down from generation to generation. The stainless-steel lid, pedal design, and rubber components remain the same as the original for their outstanding durability.

The uniqueness of the Vipp Rubbish can be seen in its light gray color with visible markings created by the raw materials. Vipp replaced the interior galvanized bin from the original design with a metal ring to hold one of the company’s regenerated plastic liners. Even the bin’s packaging underwent a complete redesign with recycled and recyclable cardboard boxing. It’s a time-tested waste bin remade to suit today’s environmental concerns and values.
