‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Official Trailer

Spidey slings into action in Europe in the first official trailer for his second solo outing.

Marvel and Sony have released the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home, a sequel to 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The second film to what is expected to be a trilogy of Spider-Man films, mostly takes place away from New York City as Peter Parker travels to Europe with his friends while distancing himself from his Spider-Man alter ego. He is contacted by Nick Fury for a special mission, and along the way we are introduced to Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio, an iconic Spidey villain from the comic books.

It is unclear whether this version of Mysterio is good or bad, but much like the villains in the MCU Spider-Man universe, we’d expect him to have well-established motives even if he turns evil.

The tone of the second film seems to maintain the light-hearted, fun sensibility established in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is what made the first film so enjoyable to watch.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will hit theaters on July 5, 2019.
