Marvel Studios Offers Up A Surprise Official Teaser Trailer For ‘Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings’

‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ teases Marvel’s upcoming martial arts epic.

This morning, we got a surprise look at Marvel Studio’s ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ with the release of its official teaser trailer. The film, which is scheduled to be released September 3rd, features Marvel’s first silver screen superhero of Asian descent. The trailer begins with Shang-Chi, played by Simu Liu, enjoying his seemingly average life in San Francisco, where he hangs out with his close friend, Katy, played by Awkwafina, who is unaware of Shang-Chi’s complex past. The trailer reveals that Shang-Chi spent the first part of his life training to be an assassin under the tutelage of his strict father, Wenwu, played by legendary actor, Tony Leung. Wenwu, we learn, is a “powerful, ancient” criminal who wanted his son to follow in his footsteps, but after learning about his evil past, Shang-Chi had severed his relationship with his father.

Now, following a decade-long break from his father, the action picks up when Shang-Chi finds himself “sucked back into his father’s sinister domain” and into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. A martial arts master with superhuman abilities, Shang-Chi steps up to the mantle when a threat appears to emerge, forcing him to reveal his true identity and to wrestle with his destiny. According to the film’s producer, Jonathan Schwartz, “This is the best action [Marvel has] ever done. Every punch is meaningful, every fighting style is meaningful, and the story is told visually in such a great way.” The film also features Meng’er Zhang as Xialing, Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, Ronny Chieng as Jon Jon, Fala Chen as Jiang Li, Florian Munteanu as Razor Fist, and Dallas Liu in an undisclosed role.
