Genesis as a brand has only existed for less than a year, but the South Korean premium brand has lofty goals and sights on the holy grail. Taking direct aim at the BMW 3-Series and other cars in the segment, the forthcoming Genesis G70 will compete in a hotly contested market, dominated by big names like the aforementioned 3-Series, C Class, and A4, to only name a few. To be competitive, the G70 doesn’t just need to be as good as its competition, it must completely destroy them.
This is why the Genesis New York Concept, a very imaginatively named concept vehicle from the brand, is important as it previews the direction of future Genesis products and more importantly the G70. Unveiled at the New York International Auto Show, the stunning lines and proportions of the car are nothing like anything on the road, with short front overhangs and a swooping rear end that is aggressive yet graceful. The interior is as striking as the exterior, with a 21-inch long curved 4K display dominating the cockpit. If this is an indication of what things will be like for Genesis, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for the new brand.
