Genesis has unveiled the official livery for its GMR-001 hypercars, offering the clearest visual statement yet of the brand’s ambitions in endurance racing. Scheduled to make their competitive debut at the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans, the cars introduce the Magma Racing identity through a dramatic color gradient that transitions from deep red at the nose to vivid orange at the rear.

The design draws inspiration from molten rock, referencing both the energy implied by the Magma name and the volcanic landscapes found throughout the Korean peninsula. Rather than relying on complex graphics or aggressive striping, Genesis allows the color transition itself to define the car’s presence. The effect accentuates the GMR-001’s long front overhangs, flowing fenders, and sculpted aerodynamic surfaces while maintaining a clean and contemporary appearance.

Subtle distinctions separate the team’s two race entries. Car No. 17 features dark gray accents and logos, while Car No. 19 employs white graphic elements, creating visual differentiation without disrupting the overall design language. The oversized “Magma” script along the body sides further reinforces the connection between the racing effort and Genesis’ emerging high-performance sub-brand.

The livery reflects a broader trend in modern motorsport design, where visual identity is increasingly treated as an extension of brand philosophy rather than simply a sponsor canvas. In that regard, Genesis has resisted the temptation to overcrowd the GMR-001 with graphics, instead allowing proportion, color, and surface treatment to carry the narrative.

More importantly, the GMR-001 represents Genesis’ first serious step into top-tier endurance racing. The Magma Racing program is expected to serve as a development platform for future performance technologies, with lessons learned on the track potentially influencing upcoming road cars. While technical details remain limited, the livery offers an early indication of how Genesis intends to position itself on one of motorsport’s biggest stages: ambitious, design-led, and distinctly Korean.
