Netflix has just launched the official trailer for Cowboy Bebop, a 10 episode series that will begin streaming on November 19th. The three stars of Cowboy Bebop, John Cho, Daniella Pineda, and Mustafa Shakir, appeared at a live virtual event yesterday to celebrate the action-packed space Western about three snarky bounty hunters, aka “cowboys,’ whose mission is to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals “for the right price.” While in last week’s previous trailer it had been hinted that all three cowboys are trying to outrun their past, the official trailer gives us a good glimpse into Cho’s character, Spike Spiegel’s, mysterious past.
Based on the late ‘90s anime classic of the same name, Cowboy Bebop also stars Shakir as Jet Black and Pineda as Faye Valentine. Alex Hassell stars as Spike’s ex-partner and current nemesis Vicious, while Elena Satine plays Julia, the femme fatale who forms a love triangle between Spike and Vicious. Among other recurring guest stars, Tamara Tunie plays Ana, the owner of a club on Mars who acts as a surrogate mother to Spike. And, we would be remiss if we didn’t also mention Ein, the “data dog,” a Pembroke Welsh Corgi who becomes part of the Bebop crew. The showrunner for Cowboy Bebop is executive producer André Nemec while the original anime series director Shinichirō Watanabe is a consultant on the series, and original composer Yoko Kanno returns for the live-action adaptation.
