Netflix has released a teaser for its upcoming action movie, Extraction 2, starring Chris Hemsworth. The teaser showcases Hemsworth’s character, Tyler Rake, protecting a woman during a prison riot as he fights his way through both rioters and police. Rake is tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held. The sequel is a follow-up to the hit Netflix action movie Extraction, which premiered in April 2020, based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks.
Hemsworth is reunited with director Sam Hargrave, with Joe and Anthony Russo producing and Joe Russo writing. Golshifteh Farahani reprises her role from the first film, with Adam Bessa, Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt, and Tinatin Dalakishvili also co-starring.
Extraction made waves as one of Netflix’s largest-ever film premieres, as it racked up 99 million views in its first four weeks on the platform, per Variety. Returning director Hargrave has promised that Part 2 is “going to push that even further, with a sequel more intricate and more extreme than before.”
Extraction 2 is set to begin streaming on Netflix on June 16, 2023. Fans of Hemsworth’s character and the original movie can expect plenty of action-packed scenes and intense fight sequences in this highly anticipated sequel.
