Alpine unveiled its futuristic hydro-powered hypercar at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, taking place now This radically engineered concept vehicle is called the Alpine Alpenglow. Its name derives from the red glow peeking over mountain tops during a sunrise, symbolizing dawn, and new beginnings, for the Alpine brand.
The concept car’s styling looks like a prototype racer slicing through a space comet. Its sharp aerodynamic shape is created by two interlocking triangles and rolls on snowflake-inspired wheel designs. At the back, the rear-finned tail lights give a visual hint of the Alpine Alpenglow’s hydrogen power. Its front lights are red, representing a comet entering the Earth’s atmosphere. Moreover, the Alpenglow is a single-seater, encapsulated in a transparent cockpit between two water drop-shaped hydrogen tanks.
Details on the Alpine Alpenglow’s hydrogen hybrid drivetrain are few. What is known is that it features two 700-bar cylindrical hydrogen tanks. In addition, Alpine states the drivetrain produces “riveting engine roars” and believes hydrogen technology will help complement battery-electric vehicles in the future.
The Alpine Alpenglow is part of the brand’s future lineup dubbed the “Dream Garage Models.” These futuristic models include the A5 hot hatch and GT-X all-terrain grand tourer. But, of course, when the Alpenglow reaches production, we can assume Alpine will tone down some of its radical details.
