We finally get to see the newest and largest Polestar EV in its entirety – the 2024 Polestar 3. This electric SUV shares DNA with the Volvo XC90 in terms of platform and wheelbase. The Polestar 3’s target market is luring Porsche owners away from their Cayenne.
It will do it by providing a luxury, electric, all-wheel-drive SUV that is rear-biased with 483 hp and 620 lb.-ft of torque using a dual-motor setup. Performance is measured in a zero to 60 time of five seconds. However, those with spare change can opt for several Polestar performance upgrades to boost the total output to super SUV territory. It starts with the Power Pack, bumping the horsepower rating to 510 and reaching 60 mph in 4.7-seconds.
The standard 2024 Polestar 3 offers 260 miles of range unless customers opt for the $6k battery upgrade to gain 380 miles (WLTP). Its 111-kWh battery pack can be charged up to 250-kW and housed in a protective aluminum case with boron steel reinforcement and liquid cooling. In addition, the new Polestar 3 is prepped for vehicle-to-grid charging.
For the interior, the 2024 Polestar 3’s cabin is trimmed with sustainable materials like traceable wool and features a 14.5-inch display screen. A panoramic sunroof lets plenty of natural light while enjoying an available 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system.
Adjustable one-pedal driving mode is standard. However, Polestar announced a new Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system for the Polestar 3. This system uses LiDAR featuring three cameras and four ultrasonic sensors continuously scanning the environment around the vehicle. Buyers can enjoy the semi-autonomous ride with dual-chamber air suspension, adaptive dampers, and 21-inch wheels. The 2024 Polestar 3 goes on sale next year.
