Polestar, known for its groundbreaking electric vehicles, is venturing into new territory with the launch of its smartphone. Teased at the Guangzhou Auto Show last year, Polestar’s CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, emphasized the seamless integration between car and phone, envisioning a transition without borders. Images of the production Polestar phone have surfaced on the Chinese website Weibo, indicating deliveries will begin this week.

Partnering with Xingji Meizu, a smart devices company backed by the Chinese auto giant Geely, Polestar aims to redefine in-car connectivity. While specifications for the smartphone are scarce, an unboxing video suggests a sleek design with four rear cameras and an innovative 21:9 aspect ratio. Notably, the Polestar phone is expected to run Xingji Meizu’s FlyMe OS, mirroring the operating system utilized in Polestar vehicles sold in China. This strategic move responds to the absence of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the Chinese market, compelling automakers to develop custom platforms for their infotainment systems.

As Polestar embarks on this technological journey, it underscores the importance of innovation beyond the automotive sector. While competitors like Tesla ponder similar ventures, Polestar’s foray into the smartphone market signifies a commitment to staying ahead in electric mobility and tech innovation.
