No more teasing, no more spy shots, and no more clickbait, the 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL is finally here, and it looks gorgeous. These are all the details on the new Mercedes SL convertible without repeating the information covered in past articles. Starting with its looks, the new AMG SL features a wide front grille with triangular, shark-like, LED headlights and a classic long hood with two bulges said to be inspired by the original Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. The profile shows shaved, clean body lines with a rounded rear end featuring quad exhaust tips and an active rear spoiler. The spoiler offers four different positions that can reduce drag for better handling.

The staggered 20-inch wheels come as standard, with 21-inch wheels available as an option. Other wheel designs feature aerodynamic styling elements. New for the SL is a soft-top which Mercedes-Benz claims saves 46-pounds compared to a hardtop. This fabric top can be opened in 15 seconds and is offered in three different colors. The rear seating is about the same as the rear seating in a Porsche 911, so that means adults can actually fit in them.

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL will be offered in two trim levels called the SL55 and SL63. Both variants will be powered by the AMG-developed twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 and nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The SL55 flexes 469-hp and 516 lb.-ft of torque, while the SL63 produces 577-hp and 590 lb.-ft of torque. According to Mercedes-Benz, the 2022 AMG SL55 will sprint from zero to 60 in 3.8-seconds, and the SL63 in 3.5-seconds. All-wheel-drive is standard on all AMG SL models, with the option to send the power only to the rear wheels. In addition, rear-wheel steering is also featured in every SL model.

Other standard features on the 2022 Mercedes-AMG-SL include heated steering wheels, massaging seats, Burmester audio system, and ambient interior lighting. In addition, the new SL is available in a dozen colors, including matte-finish options. Expect to see the latest 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL in dealerships by spring 2022.
