The Carrera Collection from TAG Heuer holds a special place in the brand’s history, as it was worn and featured by some of the most influential figures in the world. Now, the brand has just released the TAG Heuer Green Carrera Special Edition, limited to only 500 pieces. While green appears to be the color for 2021 in the watch world, TAG interestingly pairs the classic Carrera case with a very compelling blue-green dial that effectively separates it from the rest.
The polished stainless-steel 39mm case highlights the traditional watch design from TAG Heuer, while the dial highlights the simplicity of the chronograph layout. Beneath the sapphire crystal and dial lies the in-house Automatic Chronograph movement, capable of holding an 80-hour power reserve and 100-meter water resistance. The transparent sapphire crystal back case allows for a closer look at the movement in motion, while the outer case is engraved and painted green to signify the limited 500 pieces released.
In terms of its dial, the TAG Heuer Green Carrera Special Edition retains the familiar applied faceted hour markers each paired with a luminous pip to evoke the older tritium dials. The central hours and minutes hands are also luminous and share the same creamy hue as the pips paired with each hour marker. Framing the entire dial is a stepped outer minutes track, the printed hashmarks surrounding the circumference of the inner bezel. Completing the watch is the large-scale leather strap and stainless-steel folding clasp.
